Sisterhood Speaks – November 2019
No Special Talent Needed
Dina Dreizler, Sisterhood President
This month kicks off the start of Sisterhood’s “Create, Sip and Nosh” program. This is the second year we are putting on this series of four fun programs. The idea behind each program is that it is a two-hour get together involving a simple activity, a bit of food and drink, and time to enjoy each other’s company.
Last year we received positive feedback as well as some constructive advice suggesting that we hold some programming during Torah School with the idea that it would provide family members of children attending Torah School the opportunity to attend the program while their children are in class. We received further constructive advice that it would be fun and convenient to have other programming planned directly following Torah School that children could attend along with an adult.
Therefore, our Co-Vice Presidents of Programs, Alison Brandt and Lisa Weiss, have planned the following four programs incorporating both constructive suggestions to have programming during Torah School and programming that embraces children after Torah School. In addition, we hope that those without children in Torah School will continue to attend these programs.
The four Create, Sip and Nosh programs include the following:
- Sunday, November 24, 2019, 12:30p.m. – Bath Bombs (Kid Friendly)
- Sunday, January 26, 2020, 10 a.m.– Cooking Demonstration
- Sunday, March 1, 2020, 12:30 p.m. – Air Plants (Kid Friendly)
- Sunday, May 3, 2020, 10 a.m.– Cooking Demonstration
Cost: $18 for 1 program, $35 for 2 programs, $48 for 3 programs, $60 for 4 programs.
In addition, this year we have decided to try something new as a fundraiser. We hope you will be tolerant and maybe even supportive of our “No Event” fundraiser. The idea behind a “No Event” fundraiser is that literally no event will occur. It is a bit playful, a bit creative and frankly, a bit of an experiment. Soon, we will be mailing out invitations to our “No Event” fundraiser and we will be seeking donations to support Sisterhood’s functions, including scholarships to our students to attend Jewish summer camps and NFTY events. In addition, we do have a wonderful prize of a weekend in a lovely, three-bedroom condominium in Palm Springs to be awarded randomly in a drawing to one lucky winner who sent in support for our fundraiser. We are optimistic that you will support our fundraiser and next year it is our plan to return to holding an “Event” fundraiser.
