Sisterhood Speaks – August 2018

A Word from Sisterhood

Ellie Zamos, Sisterhood Co-President

I hope you are having a relaxing and enjoyable summer. The summer months go by quickly for me. Here I am already writing to you and thinking about Sisterhood and the new year. Sisterhood is often thought of as the heart of TBE. With that in mind, please know the programs and events planned are ones we hope you will want to attend and will offer opportunities for you to make new friends and renew old friendships. Check the TBE Tuesday email “News and Upcoming Events” to see what is happening on the Sisterhood calendar. Also check your monthly Kol Beit El for future events.

This year, there will be 3 Sisterhood presidents. My term of office runs from July 1 to October 31. Sandy Pickar will follow me from November 1 to March 31, and Reva Skoll will close the year from March 1 to June 30. All three of us have been Sisterhood presidents previously. I know we will work well as a team and support each other since we have one common goal and that is to do what is best for Sisterhood and TBE.

Don’t forget to join Sisterhood this year. Esther Schoem is our Vice President in charge of membership. She is the person who collects your dues. Even if you cannot be an active participant, your dues help support the ongoing programs Sisterhood provides for our youth and our temple. If you have any ideas for programs or events, please let us know. Dina Dreizler and Allison Brandt are Co-Vice Presidents in charge of Programs and are open to suggestions. If you are interested in helping with an event or program, that would be wonderful.

High Holy Days are around the corner. It is a time for reflection and renewal. This may be your first opportunity to meet Rabbi Doug Kohn, our new interim rabbi, and Racheli Morris, our new educator. It will be a time to welcome them into their new home. L’Shana Tova. May you be inscribed for a good year.
