MENsch Club – February 2021

Mentoring and “Career Pathing”

Jaime Lowenstein — MENsch Club Chairperson

The MENsch Club has identified service to TBE and its members as one of its pillars. We have chosen to create a mentorship program to assist the women and men within our congregation, including high school and college students, who are curious about pursuing a certain career path, need a bit of career coaching, might be in job transition, need help with resume writing. Mentors are TBE congregants who have expertise in a variety of professions including Education, Engineering, Finance, Health Care, Human Resources, Law, Manufacturing, Non- Profit, Real Estate, Science and Research, Social Services, and Technology.

Our mentors will include:

Barry Gross — who has spent over 50 years in public education. Barry began as a teacher in 1968, Athletic Director and Coach at the High School level. He served as Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal at the Middle and High School levels. Barry was an Assistant Superintendent for 10 years and then a college professor. He has worked as a coach/mentor  with Principals and District Office Administrators throughout California.

Jaime Lowenstein — who has spent 25 years in the health-care space working with biotech and diagnostics companies. Currently he leads a commercial arm of the Mayo Clinic and can provide guidance for new college graduates and others looking to operate in the health care arena from a sales and strategy standpoint.

George Mayer — a mentor to so many in our community and the founder of Coastline Equity, which offers management services through the development of commercial and residential properties throughout the greater LA area. George has significant experience in finance and real estate. In addition, through his volunteerism with Temple Beth El, the Boys and Girls Clubs and other non-profits, George has an expertise in the non-profit world. Serving as a mentor to many youth through the Boys and Girls Clubs, George has counseled and coached people in career development and “career pathing.”

Deborah Villanueva — a recent graduate with a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Deborah has been in practice for over 14 years, with experience in a variety of settings and with diverse populations, with various areas of expertise within child and adolescent Psychotherapy addressing Trauma and PTSD. Deb is a passionate community servant, who, as a social worker, has the ability to motivate and or inspire others in identifying their potential. She believes that change happens when people are given the guidance needed to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives.

So here’s how it works:

If you would like a mentor or someone to help you with your “career pathing” send a text or email to Jaime Lowenstein. You will be referred to a mentor.

You can contact Rabbi Cassi to be referred to a mentor also.

And to all TBE men and women who might like to be mentors, please contact Jaime. In addition, Jaime is available to answer any questions you might have about this program.

The MENsch Club is very excited about providing this special service to our TBE members. We have some inspiring and knowledgeable mentors waiting to work with you.

May 2021 be a year of empowerment!
