Temple Beth El Sisterhood We are Women of Reform Judaism,
the Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. We represent 75,000 women in 550
Sisterhoods throughout the United States, Canada and overseas. WRJ is
the women’s agency of the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ). SISTERHOOD,
which is the largest single contributor to HUC/JIR scholarship funds,
provides scholarships for Rabbinic students. Women of Reform Judaism is
the founder of (NFTY) and the Jewish Braille Institute of America.
Sisterhood advocates for women’s rights within Reform Judaism and in
the community. Internationally Women of Reform Judaism supports the
World Union For Progressive Judaism (WUPJ), currently contributes to
five Reform pre-schools in Israel and continues to provide books for
the library of the Leo Baeck School in Haifa. For Our Congregation Each
and every year we fulfill a substantial commitment to our Temple’s
general fund plus additional gifts to enhance our Synagogue. This is
made possible through our fundraisers and profit from our Judaica Shop
which we sponsor, and our SISTERHOOD Calendar. For Our Youth We
give Camperships to Jewish Youth Summer Camps. We give Youth Scholarships to assist young people in leadership training with a URJ sponsored educational experience such as NFTY in the United States and Israel, as well as the Arachim Program through Jewish Federation. We support our Youth
Choir. We support our Torah School and we sponsor our Half–Pint Havurah Program for children 6 months to 6 years. SISTERHOOD presents
every Bar / Bat Mitzvah and every Confirmand with a personal gift, and
sends Hamantaschen to our college students. Mitzvah of Membership Temple
Beth El Sisterhood is an organization of dynamic women. We gather
together in friendship for programs to benefit the Temple and our
Community, and for social activities and study. In addition SISTERHOOD
provides for the growth of the individual so that each woman may find
an opportunity to fulfill her potential as a person that encourages
creativity and leadership as a Jewish woman in a Jewish atmosphere.
Through SISTERHOOD her own life becomes enriched. SISTERHOOD
needs the support of All of the Women of our Congregation to accomplish
that which has been set forth in this tri-fold. We are committed,
involved and energized, and have fun along the way. Let us add your strength to our numbers as you formalize your affiliation with other Women of Reform Judaism. |
